Converge MidAtlantic recently held its annual event, Thrive 2017, for pastors and staff at Grace Church, McKean, PA. The time spent with other pastors and leaders offered an encouraging time of connecting and fellowship. District members took time to honor Dr. Dan Peterson as he anticipates his retirement as the District Executive Minister (DEM) of the Converge MidAtlantic District.
Dr. Peterson has been the DEM for the past 24 years and during his tenure has helped grow the district from 35 churches to over 100 churches. Many friends offered their appreciation of his service, and I was amazed by the friends that offered their congratulations via video. One of the many highlights of the meetings was the message brought by Pastor Dan Nold of State College. He called on the delegates to be a Stephen regarding commitment to God.
The MidAtlantic District has been having a positive impact on a national level along with the regional church strengthening. One accomplishment I truly admire is the ethnic diversity of MidAtlantic churches. I am encouraged to see pastors from all walks of life coming together with an intentionality to start and strengthen churches around the region.
The search is now underway for Peterson’s replacement. The chairman of the search committee is Pastor Michael Henderson of Matthews, North Carolina. Pray for him and his search team as they ask God for wisdom in finding a qualified candidate who will be stepping into this exciting role.
During Dr. Petersons time with Converge, he and I have become close friends. I commend Dan and Sandy for their encouragement and support for the ministry of Converge Cornerstone Fund. Dan has always sought to offer the best support for the churches he serves.
