Recently Converge Cornerstone Fund partnered with Orchard Church, Brighton Colorado on the construction of their new 52,000 Sq. Ft. church facility. A Burden for Denver:
Lead and Founding Pastor Doug Dameron and his wife Shellie, have always loved Colorado and God placed in their hearts a burden for the Denver metro area. Of all the population of this growing area, 93% claim no church affiliation. This makes Denver the fourth most unchurched city in America. As they considered their burden, God directed the Dameron’s to the Northeast metro area, which is exploding with opportunities. The Denver Regional Council of Governments forecasts this Regional Marketing area as “The New Growth Capitol of metro Denver.” The 2020 Regional Forecast includes the growth of more than 60,000 new jobs and 50,000 new housing units! John 15:8 says, “By this, my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.” It was their desire to glorify God by planting a new reproductive, fruit bearing church, rooted in verse by verse Bible teaching, small groups & Biblical one-on-one discipleship.
How Orchard Church Began:
On July 12th, 2005, Doug and Shellie, with their children Caleb and Katelyn (then aged 10 and 8, relocated to the northeast side of Denver. On August 18th, 2005, Orchard Church began meeting regularly on Sunday mornings with a small core group of young families and singles. The Church saw rapid growth, and soon approximately 50 attendees came each week. On Easter Sunday of 2006, the church was publicly launched at the Courtyard Marriot on Tower Road and over 135 attended.
On Sunday, January 7, 2007, the Church began meeting at the new 600-seat Prairie View High School Auditorium in the Reunion area, just south of Brighton. In the Spring of 2010, Orchard added a second service to accommodate the growth, and in the Fall of 2013, a third service was needed as the church began averaging over a 1,000 in attendance every Sunday. The church also has a 7,000 square-foot Ministry Center where offices and smaller events are located. In the Fall of 2014, the church purchased 38 acres right next to Prairie View High School and will be building a permanent facility including a 1,000+ seat auditorium. The Bible says, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which the Lord has prepared for those who love Him,” I Corinthians 2:9. It is exciting to imagine what God has prepared for Orchard Church in the years to come.
Here and Now:
Construction has started on the facility, and it’s incredible to see how fast the building is being constructed. The churches philosophy is that Orchard is not just building a building, their building a legacy. Advancing the kingdom in Colorado. Their vision is to multiply disciple-making churches. With their new facility, they will be able to more effectively carry out that God-sized vision.
