On Sunday March 13, 2016 Dr. Lou Petrie was invited to be the Mission’s Sunday speaker at the Skokie Valley Baptist Church in Skokie, Illinois. This dynamic multi-ethnic church is pastored by Rev. Ed Brown who has led the church for almost 20 years. The theme for the Missions Conference was “Our God Reigns” based on Isaiah 52:7. The program was highlighted by the attendance of Converge Missionary John Mehn and his wife Elaine. Reports were numerous concerning the delicious bacon that was served to John at the mission’s breakfast. (Bacon in Japan is rare). A great many people responded to the call of God to serve “others” in the two morning services. Dr. Petrie preached and Pastor Ed Brown made a stirring call to those in attendance to come forward indicating their willingness to serve God. Pray for Skokie Valley as they are in a community which needs to hear the Good News of Jesus.
